Joliet, Ill. (August 20, 2016) – The clouds parted for perfect racing conditions tonight at the D’Arcy Buick GMC Route 66 Classic. The inaugural Will County vs. Grundy County Grudge Match pitted dignitaries from each county against one another in the name of charity and community bragging rights. Grundy County’s Championship hopes were thwarted when Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk outdueled Morris Mayor Richard Kopczick in the final match of the night. O’Dekirk won, giving Will County a 4-2 win.
It was Will County vs. Grundy County in a bare-knuckle brawl in identically prepared pickup trucks provided by D’Arcy Buick GMC. The six-race duel kept the crowd on their feet in anticipation of a county winner.
